Know more about Oxygen Concentrator in Kuwait: Oxygen concentrator is a medical device that generates and gives extra oxygen for people with respiratory issues. The COVID-19 pandemic has tremendously increased the demand for oxygen concentrators. An oxygen concentrator takes in air and separates the oxygen and delivers it into a person via a nasal cannula. Atmospheric Air is 79% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. An oxygen concentrator works by delivering air that is up to 95% pure oxygen. Even though oxygen makes up about 21% of the air around us, breathing high concentrations of oxygen may damage your lungs. On the other hand, not getting enough oxygen into the blood, a condition called hypoxia, could damage the heart, brain, and other organs. In respiratory infections that cause oxygen saturation levels to dip below 90%, having an external device supply pure oxygen eases the burden on the lungs. However, in cases of severe respiratory issues, it may be necessary to provide oxygen that is almost 99% pure and will require acute medical care. An Oxygen concentrator consists of a compressor and sieve bed filter. The former squeezes atmospheric air and also adjusts the pressure at which is delivered. The sieve bed is made of a material called Zeolite that separates the nitrogen. Oxygen Concentrators come in various sizes but portable ones are highly preferred for home use. Concentrators are different than tanks or other containers supplying oxygen because they use electrical pumps to concentrate the continuous supply of oxygen that comes from the surrounding air. Oxygen levels are monitored with a small device called a pulse oximeter. Pulse oximeters are usually placed on a fingertip. The devices use beams of light to indirectly measure the level of oxygen in the blood without having to draw a blood sample. Always make use of the oxygen concentrator at home as prescribed by a practicing health care provider.
